This poster for Bass Ale from 1994 has great similarities to the size, look and feel of Apple’s “Think Different” posters of the 90s. Remember those? They had Muhammad Ali, Gandhi, Einstein, Bobby Kennedy, etc. This one from Bass Ale looks very similar, except it has the singer Enrico Caruso.
Thing is, Apple didn’t get going on the Think Different campaign until 1997. So this Bass Ale poster predates it by three years.
Which brings up the tantalizing question: did Steve Jobs, who so famously hated people ripping off Apple’s ideas even though he himself often stole ideas, rip off a beer company’s idea?
Reblogging for that very astute question… and the mighty Caruso.
